Serene Birth at Fort Worth Birthing and Wellness Center
Remember the beginning of the pandemic when everything shut down and outside looked like the apocalypse? Well, births were still happening. Birthing people still labored for hours, some through masks with and without their partners present.
In this particular birth story, we were not sure dad would be able to attend the birth of his son because he was coming home from deployment and had to quarantine at a military camp for 2 weeks before rejoining civilian life. Those 2 weeks ran closely alongside Mom’s due date. So we prayed! I'm not going to tell you if he made it in time or not but keep scrolling down to see.
I arrived to to the birth center and within 20 minutes, mom was pushing. Midwife Lindsey monitored baby while mom pushed and noticed that baby’s heart tones were dropping with each push so she moved Amani out of the tub and to the bed. From there, she told Amani that she wanted baby out in 2 pushes and Amani delivered. Her sweet boy had a perfect apgar score and they breastfed a bit before heading to their herbal bath. Though she planned a water birth, with the support of her doula and the skill of her midwife, Amani still had an amazing birth experience and attributes it to her preparedness and willingness to adapt.
