Peaceful Water-Birth at Dallas Origins Birth Center
We often talk about how it takes a village to raise a child but we seldom talk about how it takes a village to bring about a child. Lauren had a 4-person birth team in addition to her midwives, all working as a well-oiled machine to ensure her smooth transition into motherhood.
Her mother, who is a mother of 5, knew exactly what to do and say to comfort her daughter and remind her that she was doing good work and that she was so close to meeting her baby, Hank. Her husband laughed with her and held her up through the rough waves that came and went. Her sister and friend hung back, watching from afar but always listening and ready to step in whenever needed. Everyone had a role.
Before photographing any birth, I ask my clients a few questions so I can document accordingly. Here is an excerpt from what Lauren shared with me about her pregnancy and what she was looking forward to. "This baby boy was a surprise. I have PCOS and Cameron and didn’t know if babies would be possible and thought it would be challenging to get pregnant. I’ve always wanted to be a mother coming from a family of 5 kids." When I asked what she was most looking forward to regarding birth, she said "I am excited about watching Cameron become a dad and seeing the instant change in his eyes and his heart when his son is put into his arms for the first time."
One thing is for sure. Cameron fell in love with their boy long before he held him. They both did. And it was a beautiful sight to see.
